Category Frenzy ("we", "our", or "the game") is a free, browser-based multiplayer word game. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

Information you provide

• Display name — The name you enter when joining a game. This is temporary and not stored after the game session ends.
• Game answers — The answers you submit during gameplay. These exist only in memory during the game session and are not persisted.

Information collected automatically

• Session ID — A randomly generated identifier stored in your browser's session storage. This is used solely to maintain your connection during a game and is cleared when you close the browser tab.
• Basic analytics — We may collect anonymous usage data such as page views, game starts, and device type to improve the game experience. This data cannot identify you personally.

Information We Do Not Collect

• We do not require or collect email addresses
• We do not require account creation or passwords
• We do not collect payment information
• We do not track your location
• We do not sell, share, or trade any personal information with third parties

Data Storage

Category Frenzy does not maintain any database of user information. Game rooms are ephemeral — all game data (player names, answers, scores) exists only while a game session is active and is permanently deleted when the room closes. We use temporary server-side storage solely to track active room status (room codes and player counts), which contains no personal information and is automatically cleaned up.

Cookies

Category Frenzy does not set any first-party cookies. We use browser session storage (which is automatically cleared when you close the tab) to maintain your game session. However, third-party services such as Google AdSense may set their own cookies to serve and measure ads. You can manage these in your browser settings or via Google Ads Settings.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Vercel — Hosts the website. We also use Vercel Analytics (anonymous page view data) and Vercel Speed Insights (anonymous performance metrics such as page load times). Subject to Vercel's Privacy Policy.
• PartyKit — Powers real-time multiplayer connections. Subject to PartyKit's Privacy Policy.
• Advertising — We may display ads provided by third-party advertising networks (such as Google AdSense). These services may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on your browsing activity. You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings.

Children's Privacy

Category Frenzy is a general-audience word game. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Since the game requires no account creation and stores no persistent personal data, minimal information is processed during gameplay.

Your Rights

Since we do not store persistent personal data, there is typically nothing to delete or export. You can clear your browser's session storage at any time to remove the temporary session ID. If you have any questions about your data, please contact us.
